Students with their families

We were delighted to begin the new year with our Leaders In Freedom Conference attendees and their families as our guests. This outstanding group of students shared with us their experiences and interactions with a host of Speakers and Presenters on topics such as conflict mediation, Constitutional law, motivation, perseverance, political and religious hurdles. Of particular interest was a presentation by Dr. Candace Floyd, PhD, an Assistant Professor and Associate Scientist at the Civitan International Research Center who spoke of America being the unheralded leader in medical science.
We are most appreciative to this group of future leaders for sharing their experiences with us, as we look forward to next year and another opportunity to expose another group of outstanding and talented students to the Leaders in Freedom Conference.

Glen Smith

We extend our deepest sympathy to Gabriella, Brian, and Sarah Smith on the death of Glen. Glen has been a member of the Fairfax Civitans since 2004. We did not get to see him often since he often stayed with Sarah while Gabriella attended meetings and service projects. However, he did spend lots of time at Barnes & Noble wrapping books for our fundraiser. In addition to Gabriella, Brian, and Sarah, he is survived by his mother, three sisters, and numerous other relatives and friends.
