About

Civitan is a volunteer service organization that is dedicated to helping their community, with a special emphasis on helping those with developmental disabilities. We raise money to help other organizations in the area, as well as organizing or helping out with various local events.

The Fairfax Civitan Club meets at 7pm on the first Thursday of each month. At these meetings we discuss ways to help the developmentally disabled in Fairfax and surrounding communities, and enjoy interesting program presentations. See the “Events” section on our home page for additional service opportunities each month. These monthly meetings and service opportunities give our members a chance to get better acquainted and develop strong relationships.

Our Club conducts numerous fundraising activities to help us support programs for the developmentally disabled. We sell hot dogs at community events, and we sell the popular White House Ornaments and Claxton Fruit Cakes during the holidays. The city of Fairfax also has community events that allow us to volunteer to help raise money for the club.

Our “hands-on” approach for the disabled includes numerous projects for residents at local nursing and retirement homes, community group homes, and clean-up at a Wilcoxen Park, a Fairfax City park.
